Restaurant/places to eat in The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort
Property building in The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort
Some pros: - The property is located at the edge of the of shore and offers fantastic views of Lake Toya (all rooms are facing the lake) - The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to/from JR Sapporo Station, or you may wish to take their shuttle to/from New Chitose Airport for 1000 yen. The shuttle must be booked in advance - The check-in/check-out experiences went very smoothly and although the staff are not 100% fluent in English, they tried their best to accommodate (please remember English is likely not their first language). My friend was seated in the lounge area while I checked in and a staff brought over a welcome drink and snack for us to enjoy - We booked a twin room with shower, and it was very spacious and clean. There was a seating area by the window with a chaise - The property had three onsens - two on the 9th floor and one on the 2nd floor. The onsens on the 9th floor includes an open-air bath with different designs and views; they are switched every day between genders so even if you stay one night, you will be able to try them both. The best time to go would be during the peak mealtimes or later in the evening - The breakfast and dinner buffets were great and had a lot of variety. The restaurant offers floor-to-ceiling windows. - We paid an extra 55,000 yen per person for a kaiseki dinner the second night and it was amazing. The food was delicious, and you get to try some local and seasonal ingredients in a different way - While there are no vending machines on the property, you can pick up snacks and beverages in the gift shop, or the 7-Eleven across the street. There are also a few grocery stores in the area - There is a path in between the shore and the hotel that connects all the resorts in the area. There are outdoor foot baths for anyone staying in the area

The lobby and buffet area was stunning with the view of the lake. There was welcome berry drink which tasted not too sweet. Staff was friendly and greeted us when we checked in. Orchids lined the whole lobby and was gorgeous. Room had amazing view of the lake and it was cool how you can open window for the private onsen in our bathroom that has actual onsen water. The public onsens at facility were gorgeous as well since they had rooftop onsen so you watch the snow fall while you soak in onsen. There was also cool red onsen water that was downstairs as well. Buffet was delicious and had local Hokkaido ingredients and love they plate many things fresh and have freshly made juice they blend in front of you which was cool. I was able to have view of lake at table we sat at for breakfast and they gave scrunchies to help protect our sleeves for buffet. Ryokan was dog friendly so many cute dogs I could see on lower floor. Room was modern and spacious it was one of top ryokans we stayed at.

The staff were some of the friendliest and most helpful I’ve met, even by Japan’s standards. They helped me book Taxis whenever I needed, arranged for a shuttle bus to take me to the station at the end of my stay, and were always available when you needed them. Amenities were refilled everyday (including the welcome treats!!). The onsen (indoor, outdoor, and traditional) were all clean and provided stunning views of the lake. The hotel itself is pretty close to major attractions (walking distance to the Lake Toya Cruise, 12 minute taxi ride to Lake Hill Farm and Lake Toya Ranch). Breakfast and Dinner served a really good variety of dishes. I particularly loved the Hokkaido dairy selections. When I stayed there, they provided special dishes for guests staying 2 days onwards, which was such a sweet surprise! There’s also a tax free shop called Select 108 attached to the hotel, and I found the prices of souvenirs there very reasonable.

Location was excellent and our rooms had a view of the lake. Beds and pillows were super comfy. The firework festival was amazing but best viewed just outside the resort (as advised by the staff). The staff could speak multiple languages so there were no issues with communication. Love the book&labo space which was good to sit and read/work/relax. The onsens were located on the top floor (outdoor and indoor), which rotated between male and female overnight so you could try both. While there was a traditional onsen on level 2 as well, I didn't try that one out. Love that the staff provided robes for all guests including the kids (specific to their ages) so it was a good fit. The buffet dinner and breakfast had a great selection and food was amazing. The restaurant has views of the lake which was a bonus.

Check-in was very efficient and smooth. They assisted us with our luggage as soon as we arrived. Luggage was delivered to our room before we finished checking in. The room was clean, comfortable, and quite large for Japan. The onsen in our bathroom could accommodate my wife and I comfortably. The view from the room and onsen overlooking the lake was breathtaking. The French and Japanese kaiseki meals were very nice. The seating overlooked the main dining area with views of the lake. Breakfast buffet had a good variety of selections for various taste. The spa was clean, private, and the staff was very professional. The staff was always polite and helpful throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this resort.
